Mission: Grand Village Nursing Home’s purpose and mission is to provide quality long term care and services that will promote the individual’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being and to deliver such care and service in the most effective and economical manner possible. History: 1896 Marked the beginning of our journey in supporting our mission to provide quality long term care to people in need of such service. At that time, county officials realized a need for accommodating and supporting the poor of the community and surrounding areas; thus a facility was constructed and became known as the "poor farm". After 37 years of occupancy, the farm was deemed unfit and was condemned in 1933. Construction then began on a new facility known as the Board and Care. |

It was not until 1972 that a new 54 bed nursing home was constructed and became known as the Itasca Nursing Home and today is recognizable at its current site on Hale Lake Pointe. 1992 brought further expansion to the Itasca Nursing Home with an additional 64 beds including 16 beds dedicated as a Special Care Unit for those residents with memory impairment, a chapel and an activity center. 2001 Saw the demolition of the original structure built in 1933 and the commencement of construction for The Lodge, a 35 bed short term rehabilitation unit in 2002. Consequently, on August 15, 2003, the nursing home's name was officially changed to Grand Village. Today, Grand Village provides Choices for Living on Hale Lake. |
